FARMERS IN THE MUNICIPALITY MAY ACQUIRE SHARES FOR A PRICE OF 250 EUR.

The Minister of agriculture and livestock of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Demetrio Suarez, presented to the farmers in the village, former directors of Coaldea and managers of cooperatives agricultural, a proposal in order to revive the cheese industry of the municipality.

The Minister was accompanied by the Mayor, Tomás Pérez, Councillor for agriculture and livestock, Rosa Godoy and the current President of Coaldea, Sergio Medina.

Demetrio Suárez exposed as proposed the creation of a company that acquires the Heritage Society of Coaldea and subrogated debt of the same. This new company would count with the participation of farmers in the municipality through a package of shares at the price of 250 euro each.

In addition, the new company would have the participation of companies in the primary sector that is being negotiated at the moment, added Suarez.

The Adviser acknowledged that the main obstacle is the availability of liquidity to pay for milk farmers, but this situation would be resolved with the current initial injection, said Suarez.

Of the thirty breeders attending the call, the approach of the majority was in favour of collaborating with the contribution of milk, If guaranteed the payment of the same.

In this respect, the Director responded that this would be the way of proceeding of the new society, but, added- that the presence of farmers was considered very important in the new society.

Next Thursday will be approved in the plenary session of the Council the new mercantile society that will draw together the insular slaughterhouse and mixes factory, communicated Suarez. Coaldea aims to do something similar.

In statements to Agroaldea Demetrio Suarez confirmed the commitment of the City Council and the City Council by revive one of the most important dairy industries of the island of Gran Canaria.
