THE PERIOD FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE INITIATIVE PROPOSED BY THE COMMISSIONER ENDS THE NEXT DAY 12 NOVEMBER.

The employers' associations of the Canary Islands tomato export sector, FedEx and balsamic, have held a meeting with those responsible for the agri-food section of the Comisiones Obreras union in order to boost participation in the Public Consultation on the POSEI sponsored by the EU.

The President of Fedex, Jose Juan Bonny, conveyed to the union the importance of this Consultation for what it may mean for the modification of some aspects of the current POSEI model, according to the contributions to be considered by the Commission.

In this aspect, Bonny explained the importance of social institutions for which employment is their main value, fact that must be taken into account by the Commission in this Consultation.

On the other hand, the head of the agri-food section of the Workers Commissions union, Agustin Sosa, expressed the intention of this union to participate in the Consultation and its commitment to involve the works councils and union delegates of the companies in the sector.

Also, Agustín Sosa reported that he will request the participation of the union at the national level, as well as to exert the necessary pressure in Brussels to promote the necessary modifications.

Both Fedex and Aceto are developing a campaign to encourage the participation in this Consultation of all the agents involved in this sector., since they consider it essential to make modifications to this instrument, as the Commissioner for Agriculture advanced during his visit.
