Türkiye and Morocco have increased their tomato sales to the European Union (EU) In the first nine months of 2014 compared to the same period of the previous year, while those of Spain and Holland have experienced a decrease, as reflected by data from the Euroestacom statistical service (Icex-Eurostat).
The increase in Turkish tomato sales to the EU has been 121.57 percent, going from the 20.47 million kilos sold by the former Ottoman Empire since 1 from January to 30 September of last year, to the 45.36 million kilos sold in the same period this year.
The increase in tomato sales in the Kingdom of Morocco has been softer, of 4.61 percent, since in the first nine months of last year, Morocco exported a total of 248.19 million kilos of tomatoes to the EU, compared to the 259.64 million kilos that it has exported in the same period this year.
Spain has reduced its tomato sales in the EU by -12.96 percent, going from 652.31 million kilos between January and September 2013, to the 567.8 million kilos sold in the EU in the first nine months of 2014.
Holland dropped its sales by -10.50 percent, since in the analyzed period corresponding to 2013 sold 813.37 million kilos in the EU, while in the same period of 2014 Sales were 727.93 million kilos of tomatoes.
Something similar happens in zucchini., increasing sales to the EU of Turkish zucchini by 25.96 percent, the Moroccans in a 2'06, while the Spanish ones fell by -10.95 percent and the Dutch ones fell by -8.52 percent.
Türkiye rises in pepper (+21%), Morocco (+13’66%) and Spain (+5’47%), decreasing pepper sales from Holland (-4’49%).
