10.000 tomato plants to encourage cultivation.

The municipality of Astillero delivers tomato plants on Saturday to promote their cultivation.

Shipyard Town Hall, Cantabria, will deliver next saturday, day 9 may, almost 10.000 tomato plants to the residents of the municipality with the aim of promoting the cultivation of a typical product of the area and encouraging them to create with them “little ones” orchards.

The delivery of these plants will take place from half past ten in the morning in the Muslera field, in Guarnizo. The neighbors will be able to exhibit these tomatoes and other garden products in the exhibition that will be organized in the month of August, coinciding with the feast of Our Lady.

The City Council will give each neighbor a dozen plants that come from the municipal greenhouse. From the town hall they indicate that the cultivation of this species is “simple” and does not require “Many” care for what they have indicated that, even, on balconies and in small flower beds it can be planted.

In the town of Guarnizo, the small-scale agricultural and fruit and vegetable production of the town is traditionally concentrated., being one of his “stars” the tomato, that even today “Many” neighbors continue to cultivate in their gardens, although you can also find fruits, potatoes and legumes.
