Representatives of Banana Producers Organizations of Asprocan, These days visited Casablanca in order to see first hand the opportunities for exporting to Morocco Canarian banana.

In this travel, organized in collaboration with the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX), Canarian delegation held meetings with the main fruit and vegetable distribution companies and Moroccan banana ripening and interest in the introduction of Canarian banana market in that country.

During these days, representatives of canaries producers have had the opportunity to see first hand the product offering of the Moroccan market, a market that has its own banana production, but in amounts that are insufficient to meet their own demand.

Currently, Morocco imports around 20 million kilos of bananas from different origins each year. A scenario before which Asprocan studying the feasibility of being able to contribute part of the volume that needs the country.

To do this, the Commission of Foreign Trade of the organization, supported by the technical team structure, It aims to promote the diversification of the Canary banana selling outside the Spanish market to other European countries and North Africa, as Morocco and Tunisia, also as a way to balance the domestic market.

In this way, through the involvement and commitment of all producer organizations, Asprocan aims to launch a simple but effective structure in the search for new markets, while strengthening the main Canarian banana market.
