Türkiye once again leads this black list with a total of 7 incidences, of which 5 have corresponded to pesticide residues.
During the month of August, the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed, RASFF) has received from the countries that comprise it a total of 39 notifications for various incidents in the entry of fruits and vegetables to the member countries of the European Union (EU), either from third countries or from the EU itself.
Of the total of 39 incidences, 20 correspond to the presence of pesticide residues exceeding their Maximum Residue Limit (LMR) and the rest to other deficiencies.
Irregularities have been detected in products from Türkiye on seven occasions this month, of which five have corresponded to pesticide residues, four of them in pepper. Thailand is in second place with 4 incidences.
With 3 Notifications include Uzbekistan and Pakistan and two incidents appear on the India list, Vietnam, Kenya, China and Egypt.
They complete the list of offending countries, with one incident each, Corea, Belgium, Burundi, Serbia, Hungary, Nigeria, Peru, Argentina, Dominican Republic, Cambodia and Poland.
Spain appears on the August list with an incident, due to alteration of organoleptic properties in packaged black olives.
