The Department of agriculture, Livestock, Fishing and water of the Canaria Government has solved the call for subsidies to farmers to compensate for natural difficulties in mountain areas and other less-favoured areas, you are framed in the program of Rural development of the Canary Islands (PDR).
This line is provided with funds by total value of 217.302,58 EUR, those who benefit from a total of 412 farmers in the archipelago. The grants are financed by the European Union, the autonomous community, and the Ministry, they are intended to compensate farmers in the Islands for natural disadvantages arising from exercising agricultural activity in mountainous terrain and other complex spaces and by the additional costs generated its cultivation.
It is areas that are characterized by a significant limitation of the possibilities of the use of the land and a significant increase in the cost of labour by the existence, due to the altitude, of very difficult climatic conditions, and the consequences of shortening the period of cultivation.

Not mountainous areas that are welcomed to these credits are affected by significant natural difficulties, especially the low productivity of the lands or adverse weather conditions, or other specific disadvantages.
