the counselor, Juan Ramon Hernandez, has signed the Order that will allow access to the banana aid system within the framework of the Community Program to Support Agricultural Productions in the Canary Islands (POSEI), to more farmers in the Archipelago.

The Autonomous Department will soon publish in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC) the call for allocation of reference quantities of this crop, included in the reserve of quantities not assigned to any producer for the campaign 2015, so that 5.000 tons of this crop will be eligible for subsidy.

In this distribution they will have priority in this order: young farmers who are farmers “as main”, being the amount assigned to each producer, maximum, that corresponding to an area of ​​one hectare; followed by those farmers “as main”, affiliated with a Banana Producers Organization (UP), whose cultivated area of ​​bananas is less than one hectare who wish to expand it up to that limit; and after these, farmers “not primarily”, affiliated with an OPP whose crop area is less than one hectare and want to increase it up to that limit.

In last place are farmers not affiliated with an OPP who have put their farm into production after the 31 may of 2002. For these, the reference quantity assigned to each producer will be, maximum, that corresponding to an area of ​​one hectare.

Applications to benefit from this call will be submitted within a period of one month from the day following the publication of said text in the BOC.,-which will take place in the coming days - in the places and in the manner indicated.

The last allocation of reference quantities was carried out in April 2010, sharing that year 3.371,95 tons.
