Gran Canaria is ahead of all vintages.

This week Bodega Las Tirajanas has harvested the earliest white varieties.

The harvest in the area covered by the Designation of Origin of Gran Canaria, has started this year ahead of the dates on which it has been usual.

In particular, The harvest began this week with the collection of the white varieties at Bodega Las Tirajanas, south of the island of Gran Canaria.

This year the Regulatory Council of this Designation of Origin, The grape harvest is expected to be between 10 and 20 percent higher than last year.

El Presidente del Consejo Regulador Luis López, explained that “la calidad de la uva este año es excelente, ya que hemos tenido un invierno bastante lluvioso, y la primavera y comienzos de verano está siendo muy bueno”.

A juicio del representante del Consejo y también bodeguero gran canario, esto se debe a que “las temperaturas están siendo muy bajas por las noches y moderadas durante el día” lo que a su juicio hace que “la uva esté madurando lentamente, pero de manera homogénea”.
