THE CANARY ISLANDS GOVERNMENT AID OF 73.000 EURO WILL IMPROVE THE PROVISION OF INSTALLATION.

Guide City Council has received a grant of 73.186 Euro intended for the equipment of the House of the high mountain cheese, funds from the program of Canary EAFRD Rural development aimed at improving the quality of life in rural areas.

This heading will equip the building of the House for demonstrations of cheese making and recreation of a ripening room equipment; provision of information panels for production of cheese and related agricultural practices and audiovisual display; acquisition of furniture intended for courses, Conference, meetings, guided tastings and wine tastings, and for workshops and food fairs in the external Esplanade.

The House of cheese, It hosts the headquarters of the protected designation of origin "Flor de Guía Cheese cheese Guide" , and there are the offices of different associations of farmers in the region also: Producers of artisanal cheese from Northwest of Gran Canaria (Proquenor), National Association of breeders of the Canary Island sheep and Association of health defense in the Northwest of Gran Canaria.

Actions to guide City Council intends to carry out in the House of cheese include primarily implementation in the value of the product and the dissemination of traditional activities linked to the production of cheese, as pastoralism and transhumance, as well as the sustainable use of natural resources, etc.

Also , It aims to the creation of a visitor and interpretation centre, conducting tastings and guided cheese tastings, workshops for schoolchildren and children, guided tours of the exhibition panels and related agricultural activities, information about visits to cheese factories in the area, protected natural areas and rural trails.
