A study carried out by the Coordinator of Farmers and Livestock Organizations of the Canary Islands (COAG) reveals that La Laguna is the municipality on the Island that has the most cultivated area, with a total of 1.902,5 hectares, of which the 68% is dedicated to the cultivation of human food, the 17% to animal feed, the 12% of flowers and ornamentals and the 3% for fruit trees.

López positively valued the municipality's self-sufficiency capacity, as indicated in the conclusions of the study, which determines that the 80% of local vegetable production is based on the local market, the one with potatoes almost 60% and the fruits do not reach the 20%.
