THE BOARDS AND THE HOLE EXCEEDED 42ºC.

The high temperatures that were reached yesterday on the island, considerably affected the municipality of La Aldea, where peaks above 40ºC occurred and in a greenhouse in El Pinillo 50.3ºC was recorded.

This heat wave will take a bitter toll on seasonal productions, which high temperatures directly affect in their final development. This is the case of avocados, mangos, sleeves, watermelons and flower vegetables.

The bill will not only be reflected in the loss of income for the farmer, but it will also mean a significant increase in the prices of these products in the markets, in the coming weeks. And summer has arrived flaunting heat.

The high temperatures have been accompanied by pockets of warm air that have produced an even greater thermal effect than what the thermometers recorded. The water stress that this attack means for plants, will be reflected in the coming days, the technicians assure.

The average temperature in the La Aldea valley ranged around 34ºC, being four degrees higher in Tasarte and 37ºC in the Tasartico ravine.

The crops that have been directly affected are avocado trees, mangos, papaya trees, figs, tunes, figs, brief, plums, beans, millet and watermelon.

Regarding the effect of heat on animals, Agroaldea has not been able to confirm any loss, but the effect it will have on farm animals in milk and egg production in the coming days.
