The Quesería the Gambuesa John Gopar, Tuineje, He has won the XI National Contest Goat Milk Cheese “Tabefe awards Fuerteventura”, held this weekend on the occasion of the Fair of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Fuerteventura, EAGF 2013.

The cheese curds of raw milk from the dairy's Gambuesa was chosen as the best cheese Canarias 2013 to be the highest score received (1.042 points) from the 109 cheeses presented in competition. This edition has been that greater participation registered since the contest began to dispute.

The Gambuesa is a small and young cheese factory who run Lorenzo Martin and Natalia Torres, who seven years ago launched this farm located on top of the Lomo de Benito Diaz, en Juan Gopar, Tuineje.

Lorenzo Martin and Natalia Torres explained that the cheese-making tradition inherited from his family and settled autonomously about seven years ago. Since then, They have brought together a farm with a 420 goats semiestabulada, as well as all cheese processing equipment and livestock care.

“We have a small farm to plant fodder, a small raft, cattle feed silos and thanks to all that we produce every day a 80 o 100 kilos of cheese, depending on the time of year”, Lorenzo added Martin.
