FOR THREE DAYS, MATTERS OF INTEREST FOR THE PRESENT AND THE FUTURE OF THE ISLAND'S LIVESTOCK SECTOR HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED.
Approximately fifty people attended the closing of the FEAGA Livestock Technical Conference 2014, which featured the interventions of Noemí Castro (ULPGC), Rafael Hernández (COAG) and the Minister of Agriculture of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, Rita Díaz.

[/quote]In his speech, the counselor explained the characteristics of the EAGF program 2014, how to organize contests, exhibitions and auctions and invited participants to contribute proposals that contribute to improving the development of the fair.
This last day included the conference on ‘Artificial lactation in goats’, given by Noemí Castro, Doctor in Veterinary Medicine from the Animal Production Unit of the Veterinary Faculty of the ULPGC. Castro explained the results of his investigations at the ULPGC, with recommendations on feeding systems and forms of application, oriented to the optimization of results in the development of animals.
He also intervened, closing the Conference, the president of COAG Canarias, Rafael Hernández, who related what happened with the modification of the POSEI, from the visit of the Commissioner of Agriculture to the stoppage of the same a few weeks ago.
Hernández demanded "respect and defense" for the content of the European regulation document that has been paralyzed "by pressure from traditional interest groups, that harm the diversification of production, to local livestock and its competitiveness ".
Rafael Hernández explained that the modification, now paralyzed, "Guarantees aid to the primary sector against the application of cost cutting measures". Its application would be an important boost to sectors such as the tomato grower, the rancher or for young farmers, benefiting job creation or diversification of production.
It is positive in many aspects, but among others because it enhances local production, productive diversification, employment in the field and allows to redistribute 15 million euros from REA among producers, Hernández reported.
The controversy in this regard has been unleashed before the demonstrations of MEP Gabriel Mato, who applauded the stoppage for what he considers a detriment to Canarian interests.
To this has been added the “kidnapping” of the document held by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Government of the Canary Islands, for which a statement has been requested from the director to “know whose side you are”.
Both COAG and some media, including Agroaldea and Infonortedigital, have made known what has come to qualify as “the cursed document”, disclosure to which the Cabildo de Fuerteventura has joined.
