Les Avanchets is the Swiss city where the dream of having a garden itself has become reality.
Les Avanchets is in Geneva, Switzerland. In this city any neighbor grow their own food in your urban garden, according to the French photographer and environmentalist Yann Arthus-Bertrand.
Yann posted on his web photographs of the Swiss city with the legend of "Meet the city where each inhabitant has its own urban garden".
The idea is that each in his garden grown fruits and vegetables that you like, but your family's diet is not restricted only to them. There, everyone has a culture of exchange of organic food, expanding the possibilities for healthy eating, and so promote social integration, explains Yann.
This practice exists in Les Avanchets many years and, according Arthus-Bertrand, It is a legacy of the First World War. After the conflict, in the twentieth century, the government of Switzerland and other European countries, workers were offered plots of land, They had the opportunity to rebuild their lives and thus began the culture of urban agriculture in the country.
Centuries later, Switzerland already has more than 50 hectares of urban gardens in its territory and it has the concept to grow their own food increasingly rooted among its inhabitants.
