The farmers of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura come together to promote the reform of the POSEI.

They have the support of the parliamentarians of these islands.

The coordination and unity of the livestock farmers of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, supported by the institutions and their parliamentary representatives, will play a decisive role in the reformation and updating of the Posei (European Program of Specific Options for Remoteness and Insularity), the establishment of aid to the sector and in the process of regularization of agricultural farms.

These were some of the objectives that focused on the meeting that representatives of the Fuerteventura Livestock Farmers Platform (Jorge Mesa, Alfredo Alberto and Tomás Cabrera) held with the deputies of the Canary Nationalist Group for Fuerteventura, Nereida Calero, Lola García and Mario Cabrera, in the series of work meetings with different institutions and groups on the Island that they are holding to coordinate their activity as parliamentarians.

The deputies agreed on the need to establish collaborations between livestock collectives of the two eastern islands, as well as between the institutions of both islands and the political forces, to specify a work plan that allows us to achieve the necessary changes to promote the sector.

In this sense, have transferred the general director of Livestock of the Government of the Canary Islands, who plans to meet with them next week, the problems exposed by the Platform, that focus on the deficient department of Posei between all the productive sectors of the Canary Islands and the damage caused by food imports, like dairy and meat, that compete unfairly with local productions.

They also addressed the need to resume and expedite the farm legalization process, that began with the law 6/2009, of 6 may, urgent measures, since activity has slowed down and demand, Therefore, measures and means to promote it.

The ranchers raised the need to establish a formula in the PDR (Rural Development Plan), that allows us to complement this process of legalization of farms with financial aid to its owners to be able to undertake the required modifications and reforms.
