YES THEY CAME TO THE SIMILAR EVENT HELD IN TENERIFE, SENDING SOME SUBSTITUTES TO LAS PALMAS DE GRAN CANARIA.

What was promised was going to be a meeting forum in which the main protagonists, politicians, agricultural organizations, entrepreneurs in the sector and banking, they would exchange their positions, It became an act of “grievance” due to the absence of the institutional representatives who appeared in the program.

Of course, There can be nothing worse right now for those who try to organize events in the two Canary provinces with the same program, achieve agreement on agendas. However, when everything is confirmed and then absences occur, the organization is exempt from all responsibility.

This seems to be what, to some extent, It happened at the Agri-Food Sector Forum organized by Tribuna Fórum and in which, among other speakers, The president of the Government of the Canary Islands appeared on the program, Paulino Rivero, and the MEP, Gabriel Mato.

The Minister of Agriculture of the Cabildo of Gran Canarias did participate in the event., Francisco Santana, the president of COAG, Rafael Hernández, the director of Caja Rural de Canarias, Sergio Pérez and the director of Capisa, Samuel Marrero.

Also, The main employers of tomato and banana crops were represented by Roberto Góiriz, replacing the former president of FEDEX, and the president of ASPROCAN, Santiago Rodriguez.

During the course of the event, Among the participants, the absence of President Paulino Rivero was questioned, who sent in his place the vice-minister of Agriculture, Alonso Arroyo and it was not even the replacement covered by the director, Juan Ramon Hernandez, who had been present at the same Forum held in Tenerife.

The absence of MEP Gabriel Mato, who had also been present at the event in Tenerife, was also very displeased among those attending., and for which there was no intervention in said Forum in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Among the farmers, producers and ranchers present, some from Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, discomfort was manifested that they described as “disparagement” towards the primary sector of the eastern province.

Far from lying “the lawsuit”, those present considered that this “none” comes to add fuel to an unsustainable and quite heated situation in the primary sector. If many blames are placed on the economic situation, no less receive the institutional representatives whom the sector accuses of “not rising to the occasion”.

Some representatives of the sector told Agroaldea that the coming months will be decisive for the continuation or eviction of some subsectors., but they insisted that with this type of “grievances”, disservice done to an already existing situation “unfair and inadmissible.”

The event concluded with many questions and, above all, with a great desire to know how the Executive will deal with the compensation of some subsectors., and how the modification of the game destined for the REA will be resolved.
