A hundred farmers will show their “excellences” at a fair that will be a “meeting point” for the sector. It will be open to the public and there will be tastings of local products. It seeks to stimulate the consumption of local products, which currently represent the 15 percent of all those sold in the Canary Islands.

The days 1,2 and 3 October the Canary Islands Fair Institution (Infecar), in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, will host the I Agrarian Fair 'Gran Canaria, a single market, promoted by the Department of Agriculture of the Island Council in order to promote a “meeting point” for the sector.

The insular Minister of Agriculture, Demetrio Suarez, explained during the presentation of the event that the fair will have more than 3.500 square meters, where stands will be set up with the most representative local products, in order to make them known to commercial agents and the public.

Suárez thanked Eroski, Spar, the Rural Bank of the Canary Islands, Dinosol “and above all to small farmers” for their collaboration, “especially” to the latter for their desire to “show the quality of their products to the public”.

The fair, which has a budget of 200.000 EUR, It will have exhibitors where direct sales of fruits can be made., vegetables and livestock products.

At the same time, as explained by the president of the COAG- Canary Islands, Rafael Hernández, It will be a place of union “between farmers, distribution, points of sale and restoration”.

APOYO DE EROSKI

La cadena Eroski inaugurará sus instalaciones en la segunda quincena del mes de noviembre, según explicó uno de los representantes de la cadena durante la presentación del mercado agrícola en el que participarán los primeros días del mes de octubre.
