women SoutheastIt aims to give value to goat milk through exclusive and ecological products.

The Union of small farmers and ranchers of Las Palmas, UPA, It has presented the project of cooperative Nosotr@s, training and business character that calls for the production of quality products.

The rural women of the municipalities of the South-East of Gran Canaria, Wit, Saint Lucia and Agüimes, the agriculture and livestock workers, they lead the Nosotr@s project that promotes food sovereignty, local employment and social economy.

The representative of the UPA, Antonio Suárez, He was accompanied at the ceremony by mayors of Agüimes, Saint Lucia and ingenuity, Antonio Morales, Dunia González and Juan Jose Gil, respectively, He said the social and economic character of the initiative.

Nosotr@s is a business and educational project that introduces exclusive organic livestock products, Dairy - Yogurt fundamentally -, cottage cheese, Rulo, jams and craft beer, who want to move from a local and industrial base of the near, said Antonio Suárez.

The initiative aims to give value to the goat milk, being a typical Canarian product both for its nutritional properties and, In addition, It seeks to project the integration of women in the field, a vulnerable group in this economic crisis.

In this project, ten women in labour exclusion situations and without studies, but with some kind of link with the goats and agricultural sector, they have already started the process of training in entrepreneurship. This is to develop products aimed at a niche market that demands close and ecological products, through a socially fairer production.

The training programme, It has a duration of one year, prepare six cheese teachers - two by each municipality-, other four breweries, three distributors and two coordinators of processed products r & d.

The initiative Nosotr@s products sold close to the consumer, with outlets in markets, municipal markets and, even, through dispensers to be located in government agencies.

These products will identify the costs and what workers earn, as well as the date of milking or the name of the master cheese making or beer, for which a QR code will be used in the container which connects to the website of the cooperative.

This site will also facilitate information about the properties of the products, its nutrients, vitamins, health benefits and recommendations.
