THE COUNCIL OF GRAN CANARIA SENDS 23 ISLAND CHEESES THAT WON THE ISLAND COMPETITION.
Fourteen cheese factories from eight municipalities will represent the island of Gran Canaria in the International Cheese Competition, World Cheese Awards 2012, which will be held next 28 November in the city of Birmingham, United Kingdom.
The cheeses that come belong to the cheese factories of the municipalities of Agüimes, gáldar, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Moya, Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Santa María de Guía, Valleseco and Valsequillo), and were winners in the Gran Canaria Island Cheese Contest in 2012, assuming the Cabildo, as part of the recognition granted, registration and shipping costs for the award-winning cheeses.
Among the cheeses that the Cabildo has presented are the half-flower of Guía, cured sheep, semi-cured goat, cow or its mixtures, and even pasteurized or industrial ones.
Estos veintitrés quesos pertenecen a las siguientes queserías: Quesos Finca Fuente Morales, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; Quesos SAT Caprican, Queso Flor de Valsequillo, en este municipio; Quesos Madrelagua de Valleseco; Quesería Campos de Guía; Queso Las Mesas, in Gáldar; Quesos Los Corralillos, Agüimes; Quesos Hoya León, Valsequillo; Queso Artesanal de la Era del Cardón, St. lucia; Angelita Cheeses, Valsequillo; Quesos Madre Vieja, Moya; Quesos del Rosario, Santa María de Guía; y Quesos Roque Grande, Valsequillo.
La quesería artesanal La Colina obtuvo en el año 2009, por su queso semicurado, una medalla de oro en el certamen de la World Cheese Awards celebrado en Gran Canaria, lo que contribuyó a la promoción y demanda de este excelente producto que se elabora en Tasarte.
De las dos queserías que disponen de registro sanitario en La Aldea para la fabricación, ninguna participará en este certamen.
