The Tegueste City Council has launched the program “Agricultural tegueste 2015”, a project that each year consolidates the municipality as a benchmark when it comes to invigorating and enhancing the agricultural sector.
This macro program begins with a firm commitment to alternative crops and agroecology, in addition to expanding its field of action in training, long-term specialization, the valuation of the products, sustainable agriculture and respect for the environment.
The challenge facing the project each year “Agricultural tegueste” It is to adapt to the needs of the sector and offer an attractive and varied program.
A sector that undergoes constant evolution both in the use of technologies, as in the adaptation of the products to the market, without, of course, give up our agricultural treasures.
This year, “Agricultural tegueste 2015” includes the valorization of agricultural products through the program “Agrifood Treasures” and agroecological training in the First Cycle of Seminars of “agroecology, Food Sovereignty and Rural Development Cooperation”.
The First Cycle of Seminars of “agroecology, Food Sovereignty and Rural Development Cooperation” will start in March and will run until June.
Within “Agricultural tegueste 2015”, In them, Aspects such as “The Ecological Economy”, “Political and Social Ecology”, “The ground as a living entity”, “Agroecological Management of Tropical and Subtropical Crops”, “Orchard Design and Composting” and “Rural Development Strategies in the Canary Islands as Agroecological Bases”, among others.
Also, the local products valorization program “Agrifood Treasures” will again seek to publicize the authentic agricultural and livestock jewels of the municipality with the aim of putting in value each month the traditional agricultural products.
For this occasion, the star products chosen are carrots (March), the wine (April), mushrooms (mayo), the cereals (June), Pears (July), milk fig (August), fig peak (September) and the black pig (October).
