IN THE ARCHIPELAGO HAVE BEEN 700 PRODUCERS WHO HAVE BENEFITED FROM FUNDS BY VALUE OF 11,13 MILLION EUROS.
The Government of the Canary Islands has granted aid to the first installation of young farmers and the modernization of agricultural holdings of the Canary Islands Rural development program 2007-2013, for the call of 2012.
More than 700 producers of the archipelago have benefited from funds by value of 11,13 millions of euros corresponding to these lines of the PDR, It manages the Department of agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and waters of the Canary Islands.
In relation to the appropriations earmarked for the modernisation of facilities, the regional Department has granted funds amounting to 10,01 million euros, distributed between 701 beneficiaries, 234 in Tenerife, 225 in Gran Canaria, 187 in La Palma, 21 in Fuerteventura, 18 in iron, 12 in Lanzarote, and 4 in La Gomera.
The aim of these measures, is facilitate the access of them farms agricultural to the technology and innovation and improve the degree of mechanization of them same. To this end, performances are covered such as the construction of systems of crop protection, the acquisition of machinery to improve the collection process, the improvement of the system of irrigation or energy efficiency, among other actions.
In terms of aid to the first installation of young farmers, the Executive has approved 42 records, 19 in Gran Canaria, 15 in Tenerife, 3 in La Palma, 3 in Lanzarote and 2 in Fuerteventura, you will receive a total amount of 1,1 million euros.
This action aims to promote the installation of young farmers as owners or co-owners of farms, individually or associative, which leads to a structural improvement and modernization of the same. Thus contributing to the necessary generational renewal in the sector and, as ultimate goal, the fixing of the population in rural areas.
These lines are co-financed on a 85% by the European Union, in a 8,72% by the autonomous community of the Canary Islands and in 6,28% by the Ministry of agriculture, Food and environment.
