THE MEETING HAS BEEN HELD WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE MEETINGS WITH THE INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION VÍA CAMPESINA.
Rafael Hernández, president of COAG-CANARIAS, held a meeting in Brussels with the current president of the Council of Agriculture Ministers of the EU, Czech Jakub Sebesta, in which they have exchanged points of view on what is going to happen to agriculture and livestock with the reform planned for 2013.
Hernández is participating in the community capital in a series of meetings with officials from the different community institutions, as a member of a small delegation of the international organization Vía Campesina (of which Coag is a part), and in which the central issue is the future of the CAP.
Como señala Rafael Hernández: “For the Canary Islands, this budget reduction could affect both the direct aid that producers from all sectors receive through the Posei, as well as those destined for investments in infrastructure, that allow the sector to be competitive. That is why meetings like this, They are essential to guarantee agriculture and livestock in the Archipelago.”.
