EXPLOITATIONS WILL BE INSURABLE BOTH OUTDOORS AND IN GREENHOUSES.

The Official State Gazette (BOE) has published Order ARM/774/2011, of 31 of March, that defines the insurance conditions with increasing coverage for horticultural farms in the Canary Islands, included in the Plan 2011 of Combined Agricultural Insurance.

Collects assets and insurable income, the minimum technical cultivation conditions, the scope of application, warranty periods, subscription dates and unit prices.

Among the vegetables collected by the Order are green chicory, chard, it, celery, potato, Eggplant, I shout, broccoli, zucchini, pumpkin, onion, Lanzarote onion, chive, col, chinese cabbage, cauliflower, chayota, endive, spinach, strawberry, strawberry, bean, lettuce, millet pineapple, cantaloupe, yam, cucumber, pepper, leek, vegetable and banana seedlings, watermelon, tomato or carrot.

The production corresponding to the different species and varieties of vegetables listed in its annex will be insurable., grown both outdoors and in a greenhouse and whose production is susceptible to harvesting within the guarantee period, against damage in quantity and quality.

The risk of virus disease will only be covered in tomato production., pepper, cucumber, Eggplant, zucchini, cantaloupe, green beans and watermelon grown in a greenhouse, provided that the effects manifest themselves in at least the 25 % of the plants that make up the insured plot.

They will be insurable, as well, artificial windbreak installations, anti-hail structures, umbracles, greenhouses and macrotunnels.

The insured will set the yield that will be reflected in each of the plots that make up their farm., for all species and varieties, but adjusting to their real production expectations, according to the average of the returns obtained in previous years.

The Order, which came into force, details in its annexes the unit prices that will be applied for the different species, Insurance varieties and facilities, the payment of premiums and the amount of compensation in the event of an accident.
