THE COMPANY NIWA HAS CREATED THE FIRST COMPACT HYDROPONIC SYSTEM ' INTELLIGENT’ USING THE CROWDFUNDING.
The enterprising Spanish Javier Morillas, together with Agnieszka Nazaruk, they have created the first Intelligent compact hydroponic system. Is Niwa, a small greenhouse that fits in the living room and connects to the mobile.
The initiative has raised more than 100.000 euros on the platform of ' crowdfunding’ Kickstarter. The creators based his idea that “Agriculture is a rewarding activity. If citizen could grow their own food at home, In addition to winning in freshness and quality, It would help the environment.”
With this starting point, Morillas began working on the idea a year and a half, After reflecting on the long journeys making vegetables before reaching the final consumer. «Ideally ourselves we could cultivate part of our vegetables to gain freshness and quality, In addition to saving fuel and pollutant emissions», comments. The problem? Lack of knowledge, time and space.
Morillas then began to conceive of a technological solution which ordered that "complexity" and leave the user «only the fun and rewarding part». Thus was born Niwa.
Niwa is a hydroponic system (mineral solutions instead of agricultural land use) fully automatic that it incorporates a series of sensors and actuators to create the "perfect climate" for every plant and every phase of your life. The device controls the light, temperature, moisture and the frequency of irrigation. All connected to the internet via WiFi, in such a way that the user can change parameters with your mobile or Tablet from an application.
Niwa «key» is the ease of use. The consumer has only to plant the seeds or plants that want to grow and write down it in the mobile app. «Will be automatically charged a program for that crop with all necessary parameters», explains Morillas. In addition, These parameters will change according to the needs of the products. «Niwa adapted to your plants», the entrepreneur says, «You can grow tomatoes, Peppers, strawberries, lettuce, aromatic herbs or flowers».
The team has worked directly with experienced farmers to develop cultivation programs. «There is nothing similar in the market, with which we have had to start practicing zero», designates. The entrepreneur indicates that your system is «the first step towards local production for all».
Its advantages include ease of use, the educational component and a compact design that «fits in smaller classrooms». «It is ideal for children reconnect with nature in the urban world, sometimes too artificial», says Morillas.
There are other hydroponic options for domestic market, but they are not "big enough" to grow vegetables and they lack connectivity or climate control. Another alternative is the «complex» mini-invernaderos, that it does not incorporate intelligence that will assist the user.
Morillas has spent the last four months in China working with different factories in order to develop a quality system on a large scale. After making several prototypes, the company is ready for mass production.
To fund it have opted for collective funding Kickstarter platform. They needed 100.000 $ (73.500 EUR) to start the manufacture of moulds and the first units. He has more than exceeded expectations. In a month, It has managed to raise 143.00 $ (105.000 EUR).
