livestock_villageTHE REITERATED NON-COMPLIANCE AND THE COMPLETE ABANDONMENT OF THE SECTOR, AMONG THE MAIN CAUSES.

The ranchers of La Aldea are outraged by the treatment and “lies” of regional and local administrations, after the visit that the general director of Livestock made in October in which they announced the payment of pending aid before the end of the year 2013.The main claim of the municipality's livestock sector, after agreeing on it in a preparatory meeting promoted by the city council, was the demand for payment of pending subsidies. In addition, the sector transferred several “incidences” that occur in the development of the activity.

After visiting three livestock farms and listening to the demands of professionals, Livestock director general of the Canary Islands, Juan Pedro Dávila, anunció que antes de finalizar el año 2013 recibirían parte los importes atrasados y la ayuda del año en curso.

Pedro Medina has addressed both administrations, obtaining a response from the Government regarding the payment of aid: “in the coming months, undetermined” and that of the town hall of La Aldea “I don't know her, since they have not yet deigned to receive me; maybe that's already the answer”.

The goat cabin of La Aldea, the most relevant, has happened in recent years 16.000 heads at approximately 3.700 current heads. This sector has passed, to be a reference at the island level, to become almost a residual activity due to the loss of value.

For Medina, The key to this setback lies in the false involvement of the administrations and in not having carried out an all-out defense as, for example, have been carried out from the tomato sector.

We, the ranchers, would like to be able to go on a hunger strike and fight for justice., but our activity that depends on the well-being of the animals, doesn't allow us. But I admit that it is time to take decisive measures. We can't expect anything from our politicians., just keep increasing the diets, Pedro Medina pointed out.

The rancher's discomfort goes beyond the livestock situation to harshly criticize the statements of the mayor of La Aldea in the media: “you can't go around burying the municipality, blaming others and then functioning this way. I am a rancher, But anyone with common sense knows that this is not going to solve anything., and also, scares away any investment”.

Aid for the production of the year's milk 2012 in the municipality of La Aldea they would mean about 500.000 euros that twenty ranchers would earn, approximately.
