FOR FOUR DAYS THE APPLICATION OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES WILL BE ADDRESSED, FERTIRRIGATION AND BIOLOGICAL CONTROL.
The primary sector of Fuerteventura met yesterday at the opening of the XX Agricultural Technical Conferences. During the three days the tomato cultivation will be addressed ('fertigation' – combination of fertilizer and irrigation- and variety testing) and biological pest control.
The Minister of Agriculture of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Rita Díaz, explained at the inauguration that “they are consolidated days, with wide acceptance and practical innovations for farmers. Special attention is paid to the application of new technologies to increase the quality and productivity of farms.”.
Experts and researchers on the subject will participate in the XX Technical Conference on Agriculture, who will contribute their knowledge and experiences related to the latest innovations and topics of interest to the island agricultural sector.
Among the topics to be discussed in this year's program, it is worth highlighting several presentations dedicated to tomatoes that will focus on different aspects of this crop, such as the 'fertigation' technique. (irrigation and nutrition), or an exhibition on the results of the variety trial that is currently being carried out in Fuerteventura.
Other topics of interest will be, for example, biological pest control, a variety trial on short-cycle onion, and other talks dedicated to addressing competitiveness and sustainability, or cooperativism, professionalization and generational change in the sector, the latter given by the general director of the COAGRISÁN cooperative.
