The Foundation of the International Center for Organic Agriculture (CIAB) its main purpose, as stated in its statutes, the promotion of studies, research and development aimed at promoting the sustainability of agricultural, livestock and fishing activities, with special attention to the development of experiences on integrated agriculture, ecological and/or biological for which it will carry out research activities and strategic support for agriculture, livestock and fishing, as well as its technological and transformation developments.

The insular Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and fisheries, Basilio Perez, He explained that “there are many farmers, livestock farmers or agri-food artisans from La Palma who see the ecological accreditation of their products as a future way to maintain their viability in the face of increasing competition for imports at impossible prices. But for most of them”, Adds, “Unrelated until now to the certification system of the organic farming regulatory councils, the step to take generates many unknowns. Pérez indicated that “after several years preferably focusing advisory activities on the technical requirements for the reconversion of farms, the International Center for Organic Agriculture Foundation (CIAB), has decided to also provide information regarding the required procedures.”. With the collaboration of the Canarian Institute of Agri-Food Quality, body responsible for Rope, A text has been written that simply specifies the conversion periods, the documentation to provide, the steps to be taken and even the fees to be paid by those who want to market their production under the name of 'Organic Agriculture'.

The brochure organizes the information according to sectors to make it easier to consult., with the intention that it can serve as a guide to ecological reconversion for farmers, farmers and processors.
