THE EU APPROVED STATE AID OF 46,5 MEUROS PAID IN EQUAL PARTS BY THE STATE AND THE CANARY ISLANDS.
The Ministry of Agriculture of the Government of the Canary Islands has presented the POSEI reform, which has an additional item that will benefit the agricultural sector of the islands.
The thirty grants of the Program are grouped into three measures, within which budget reallocations can be made based on annual execution.
Measures to support plant production are provided with 72,8 meuros; measures to support animal production have 35,5 meuros and aid to banana producers will have 14,1 meuros.
Tomato
Until now there was only one measure aimed at supporting the tomato sector for foreign marketing., endowed with 9 meuros. Now it has been resized, reducing the token to 5,4 meuros while new aid has been planned for producers of 32 meuros. This represents a total of 37,4 meuros for the tomato.
Additional financing for export tomato producers is limited to 2009. In addition, It is subject to the preparation of a restructuring plan that allows the sector to be modernized and its dependence on operating aid to be reduced in the future..
