Tomato-OroneCultesa submitted the application to the ministry in 2013 through the Service and Agricultural Production Records Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development of the Government of the Canary Islands.

The variety of traditional Canarian tomato called "Orone" was recently included in the Register of Commercial Varieties of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and environment following the steps taken by the council by the company Crops and Agricultural Technology of Tenerife (Cultesa), thus it becomes the first commercial variety of tomato Canary Islands which is part of this record.

The Vice President and island agriculture Advisor, Livestock and fisheries, Jesús Morales, He explains that this achievement "is the result of years of work which has made Cultesa multiple morphological characterization studies, agronomic evaluation, bromatológica, organoléptica and direct tastings with consumers ".

Morales emphasized that the inclusion of this type of tomato in the Register of Commercial Varieties allow Cultesa "offer farmers a differentiated and plant material excellent properties regarding their flavor or taste”.

Cultesa submitted the application to the ministry in 2013 through the Service and Agricultural Production Records Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development of the Government of the Canary Islands. After the relevant technical trials and the dossier evaluation carried out, the National Variety Evaluation Commission has finally proposed registration Tomato "Orone".
