The company BIOBAB R also participates in it.&D based in the southeast of Gran Canaria.
Through the agreement, research will be carried out on the biostimulant effect of four microbial inocula in COAGRISAN tomato crops..
Once again, COAGRISÁN is at the forefront of experimentation and innovation by having signed a collaboration agreement, for which the Technical Study will be carried out in its facilities: “TRIALS OF MICROBIAL INOCULATIONS TO INCREASE PRODUCTION ON TOMATO CROPS” that, in all probability, will be expanded to banana cultivation.
The signing of this agreement took place within the framework of the Fruit Attraction Fair 2014 held in Madrid, and the president of the COAGRISÁN Cooperative participated in it., Juan José del Pino, the president of the Canarias Caja Rural Foundation, John Sardinia, the representative of Biobad R&D, Ignacio Horche and the general director of Caja Rural Canarias, integrated into the Cajamar group, Sergio Pérez García.
The interest of both companies in carrying out this research is determined by one part, for the continuous research and innovation work carried out by the COAGRISÁN technical department on tomato cultivation and, now, also in banana.
And on the other hand, for the research work, development, production, and commercialization of innovative products of natural and biological origin for agriculture, carried out by the company BIOBAB R&D, S.L, in order to increase crop yield and contribute to their health.
This research will be carried out, mainly, in the following fields: Trials of different seed varieties, management and monitoring of traditional crops and hydroponic crops, development of integrated pest control systems.
The objective of the trial is to certify the biostimulant and biofertilizer effect of the Cronos IS microbial inoculums in COAGRISAN's commercial tomato crops., Cronos P and Cronos IP developed by Biobab R&D.
These four products have already been tested in greenhouses under controlled conditions and on some commercial crops., obtaining very good results in all tests, indicating a clear biostimulant effect.
However, To date, it has not been possible to carry out a trial consisting of a commercial crop in Spain., in which it has been possible to evaluate the tons and size of the fruits produced.
According to the person in charge of Biobad R&D and based on the tests carried out to date, The expected results will allow us to verify: greater vigor of inoculated plants thanks to better development of the root system and better absorption of nutrients such as phosphorus and iron.
Greater flowering and better fruit set will also be observed thanks to a better supply of nutrients and the effect of the selected strains of microorganisms., as well as a lower incidence of soil pathogens (in case there are) thanks to the fact that the microorganisms in the products compete with them for the roots.
The set of these results will allow obtaining greater production, which will result in higher income for farmers and a positive cost/benefit ratio through the use of natural microbial inoculums with zero residue.
The President of COAGRISAN, Juan José del Pino, expressed his satisfaction and recalled that one of the aspects that defines the Cooperative, It is the constant work to progress and obtain better results in continuous training and professionalism..
The planned duration of this trial will be twelve months and may be extended if the parties consider its continuation appropriate.. The budget of this study amounts to 146.486 €uros and will be assumed by each of the signatory parties of this agreement.
