The prestigious South African agronomist Gerhard Malan recently visited, the cultures of protheas that exist on the island of La Palma. Malan is considered one of the greatest authorities worldwide in the cultivation of these flowers.
As explained by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and fisheries, Jose Basilio Perez, during your stay on the Island, Gerhard Malan visited more than a dozen prosthetic farms accompanied by technicians from the Cooperativa Próteas de La Palma and the Agriculture Service of the Cabildo Insular.
Malan had the opportunity to check in situ the status of the prosthetic cultures on the Island and, In addition, visited several farms in which it is intended to implant new varieties of this flower.

The cooperative that is dedicated to these flowers has positively valued this meeting because, in the visit to the farms, advised farmers on aspects related to the management of this crop and which are the varieties that would best adapt to the particular conditions of climate and soil”, said the counselor.
