THE PRESENTATION WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE EL CINE DE SARDINA DEL SUR CULTURAL CENTER AT 20:00 HOURS.
The Vice-Minister of Agriculture of the Government of the Canary Islands, Alonso Arroyo Hodgson, will give the last presentation of what has been the XXIV Agricultural Week of Sardina del Sur. The title of Arroyo's intervention will be “Does the Canary Islands export tomato have a future??”.
Agricultural Week has addressed, for four days, topics of interest for the tomato sector such as post-harvest diseases, tomato moth or integrated pest control.
Less than a month until the end of the harvest, producers begin to evaluate the current campaign to decide how to face the next one. And the one that is now ending has given great hope to the farmers of La Aldea.
The change of mesh in the structures allowed them, together with the integrated fight, produce without the virulence of the whitefly ruining their crops.
On the other hand, Southern farmers are studying changing meshes, since they have been affected by the tomato moth that, to reproduce in a similar way to the moth, could cause unprecedented damage.
Be that as it may, These forums allow you to go deeper, exchange and, above all, learn. The future is served.
