Gran Canaria Coastal Action Group
LPGC joined the Gran Canaria Coastal Action Group in May 2012. It is a non-profit association promoted by the European Fisheries Fund. (FEP), the financial instrument that forms part of the Common Fisheries Policy.
The GAC brings together the fishing areas of San Cristóbal in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Hoya de la Plata, Alcaravaneras, Las Canteras and Costa Ayala. The San Cristóbal Fishermen's Cooperative is already part of this initiative along with the Agaete brotherhoods, Romeral Castle, Arguineguín, Mogán and Melenara.
The Cabildo of Gran Canaria coordinates the project through the Insular Vice-Ministry of Fisheries. The rest of the partners represent the different actors in the island's fishing sector.: councils, research centers, citizen groups and coastal promotion institutions.
The objectives of the Coastal Action Group coincide with the strategy being carried out by the Ciudad de Mar Area of the City Council: dynamize, promote and revalue the coastline and the opportunities that the sea offers to the city.
