The employers of the Canarian tomato sector seek new business opportunities and expand the portfolio of buyers in Europe and other countries.
The Provincial Federation of associations of exporters of horticultural products of Las Palmas, FEDEX, and the Provincial Association of growers - exporters of tomatoes from Tenerife, ACETO, with the participation of the Canarian Society for Economic Development, S.A., PROEXCA and the collaboration of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, go to the edition 2016 of the Fruit Logistica of Berlin with the aim of continuing to expand tomato and cucumber from the Canary Islands for the Nordic and Scandinavian markets.
From the day 3 and until the day 5 February, the Messe Berlin will receive thousands of professional visitors -the edition closed with some 65.000 visitors-, arrived from more than 135 countries and 2.785 exhibitors 83 countries that choose the event to exhibit a wide range of products from all sectors of the fruit and vegetable trade.
Give value fruit and vegetable production and expand export destinations are the Canary betting sector employers, who come to the appointment with the celebration of the 130 years of export activity to Europe.
“Distribution chains, importers and wholesalers from all over the world come to Berlin these days looking for the best suppliers of fruit and vegetables. being is essential, not only to serve customers, but to expand markets and learn first-hand about the latest trends”, says the president of FEDEX, Jose Juan Bonny.
The space is intended to be a meeting point for clients, suppliers and partners, where agreements will be made, Strategic Alliances, as well as the strengthening of existing. All of this, always with Focus on consumer satisfaction and safety, which has led to the development of efficient and cutting-edge logistics and management systems.
About a hundred business interviews have already been arranged by the companies of FEDEX and ACETO. Customers from European countries will once again focus commercial attention by concentrating the bulk of the consumption of Spanish products.
The stand "Tomato and Cucumber from the Canary Islands", located in the hall 11.2 P05 and organized by PROEXCA together with the Canary Islands employers, welcomes the joint participation of FEDEX and ACETO, which in turn displace several of the associated companies.
On this occasion the decoration of the stand reflects the celebration of the 130 Anniversary Canary tomato exports and has been planned for the occasion, the development of several acts of recognition to customers for their loyalty to this product.
The industry wants highlight this differential fact over the rest of competitors, not only for excellence and product quality, but for being the pioneers in Europe and lead 130 years of activity, experience and constant improvement are the guarantee of success.
The activity maintains a surface of 710 hectares on the islands and employs about ten thousand people between direct and indirect jobs. Until the end of January Canarian tomato exports from the two provinces total a total of 30.840 tons; 5.671 tons more through the province of Las Palmas and 1.775 tons less for the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife than on the same date of the previous campaign (2014/2015).
As a prelude to the fair, the day 2 the 35th edition of the Fresh Product Forum will be held, which this year is entitled "Climate change. The challenges for global production and purchase" and will address the consequences of climate change in the sector, mainly the changes in the cycles of cultivation and production at an international level.
