THE EVENT WAS HELD IN MADRID LAST WEEK AND RON ALDEA WAS THE ONLY PARTICIPATING NATIONAL BRAND.

Ron Aldea is in luck. Many years have passed since 1936, date on which Don Manuel Quevedo Alemán, founded the old factory of Rum Aldea in the Aldea de San Nicolás.

And it is that Ron Aldea has been the only Spanish representation that has participated in the first International Congress of Rum, that was held in Madrid between the days 6 and 9 June with a wide program of activities, promotion and tasting.

The staff of the lectures delivered included the outstanding figure of the editor of GOT RUM magazine, -the only one of its kind dedicated exclusively to, Luis Ayala, also founder of the University of Rum in the USA.

The keynote lectures by the rum masters Francisco Fernández "Don Pancho" stood out., master of masters, Titus Lamb, Nestor Ortega, Federico Schütz and Ramiro González. They also made exhibitions of maximum interest Jean-Paul Bouyat, Matthew of Lassus, Manuel Ribeiro, Javier Herrera and Carlos Esquivel.

At conferences, in addition to sharing and exchanging knowledge among attendees, the actions to be undertaken by the world rum sector were discussed and addressed to disseminate, promote and spread rum and its culture.

The Congress hosted the Rum Festival that, During two days, demonstrated the quality and professionalism of more than 140 brands of rum participating in the tasting, that delighted the professional sector and the public present.

In the stands section, the Zacapa Rums appeared among other brands, Santa Teresa, Botran, Dillon, Bold font, Saint James, J.Bally, Matusalem, Cartavio, Number 0, Cane flower, Old man of Caldas, Diplomatic, Bohemian Soul, Don Q, Clement, Village, Legendary, Havana Club, Ritual and Medellín.

In the tasting contest, Ron Aldea obtained a Gold medal in the category of sweet and fruity rums in its brand Ron Aldea Caramelo and a Silver medal in Rum Aldea Miel.

Contest categories, in addition to the above, they collected the classification as Agricultural Rum, made with 100% fresh sugarcane juice, and the possible variants: still, continuous column or mixture of both distillates.

Ron Aldea met last year 75 years of hard work, that fill a few pages of the history of rum in the Canary Islands. Currently, the fourth generation continues to produce this excellent product on the island of La Palma.
