IN THE CANYON OF PINO GORDO THEY WERE REGISTERED 48 LITERS IN TWELVE HOURS.
The first storm of this year has been very generous and uneven in the municipality of La Aldea. Although in the Valley the rain gauges registered quantities that ranged between 23 and the 31 liters, in the interior areas these amounts were close to the 50 liters.
Once again the stamp of the overflow of the dams is repeated for the fourth time in twelve months. It seems that it is already becoming a custom in the retina of the villagers who, for so many years, They clamored for the presence of water to save the tomato campaigns and be able to have a supply.
El Parralillo, Siberio and El Caidero de la Niña are overflowing again, which together with the flows of Tifaracás, The salty, Pino Gordo and Vigaroe, a flow of several hundred hours is flowing into the sea.
The precipitations although intense, they have not caused serious damage. The runoff produced has caused the impassability of some access roads to farms and livestock operations that, practically, they are already arranged.
Those who have most thanked this rain have been the transhumance sheep herders who are in the municipality, as is the case of José Mendoza, who has his more than three hundred sheep in the Cortijo de Cueva Nueva.
“This watered will allow the grass to continue growing until next March. This year the food, milk and cheese is guaranteed”, affirmed to Agroaldea, Jose Mendoza.
On the other hand, the president of the Irrigation Community of La Aldea de San Nicolás, Juan José de el Pino, regretted that the administrations have not executed the agreed water works, which would have allowed a greater water reserve.
These works include the re-growth of the walls of the Siberio and El Parralillo dams and the construction of the El Salto del Perro dam., Del Pino said.
Regarding the crops, both the water and the drop in temperatures have benefited the production of export tomatoes, indicated Marcelo Rodríguez, COAGRISAN technician, who added that you have to be careful with the appearance of botrytis, spotted and mildew.
