The events are held in Puerto de Las Nieves on Friday 18 Sunday 20 September.
The esplanade of Puerto de Las Nieves will offer this weekend the great tasting-tasting ‘Agaete, the taste of experience’ that will allow you to taste cheeses, honeys, wines and oils, among other products of the land.
It is an original experience for disseminate gastronomic culture and “everything that the municipality of Agaete and Gran Canaria are capable of producing”, assured the insular councilor for the Primary Sector and Food Sovereignty, Miguel Hidalgo, who invites you to take advantage of the extensive programming designed to spend a tasty weekend, which also adds to the importance of promote island production.
“There has not been any act like this in Gran Canaria”, stressed in the presentation of the event the local businessman and president of Agroagaete Víctor Lugo, who also pointed out the “opportunity” that offers the appointment for unite tourism and the agricultural sector, something “fundamental” to combat unemployment suffered by the municipality, according to its mayor, Juan Ramon Martin.
Among the proposals stands out the installation of a mobile tent so that, free of charge and for one hour, the public savor and evaluate a whole range of products, from the esteemed café of Agaete, to cider or beer produced on the Island.
In parallel form, graphic exhibition ‘Gran Canaria, an island of flavors‘, will show landscapes and typical products to also pay tribute to the work done by the men and women of their agricultural sector.
Tasty days
The inauguration will be next Friday at 10.00 morning with numerous schoolchildren who will participate in a cooking and pastry recipe preparation workshop taught by professionals from Hotel Schools of the Canary Islands (HECANSA).
Already in the afternoon, starting at 18.00 hours, technicians from the Coastal Action Group of Gran Canaria will give a talk in which they will address the situation of the fishing sector and its future prospects, with special emphasis on curiosities of the sector unknown to the general public, as well as job creation.
Then, will be performed a commented tasting with wines participating in the XX Insular Wine Tasting of Gran Canaria.
But the tasty program will also extend to Saturday and Sunday, days in which young chefs from Gran Canaria will offer their creations prepared with canarian products, while local winemakers will introduce attendees into the world of tasting, a true sensory walk in which, for free, will show the public the wonders and organoleptic curiosities of their products.
